The Trinity Business Review’s annual Essay Competition is back for its third year, sponsored by the National Treasury Management Agency (NTMA)! Three prompts are available as follows:

1. Managing the States assets as well as its liabilities: In a world where Ireland has rising assets and plateauing liabilities, how should the Government manage the State balance sheet? Should it shrink the balance sheet, reduce its debt, or return money to households? Should it put its expanded balance sheet to work and invest in the future?
2. Domestic holder’s vs foreign holders of public debt: Is Ireland’s lack of home bias an issue?
3. The Importance of Retail Debt in Ireland’s debt profile.
